A FIELD in excess of 600 is expected for Thanet Roadrunners’ 5k Charity Fun Run at Palm Bay on Saturday.

Entries will be accepted on the day from 12.30pm and fitness instructors from Bannatyne’s Health Club, Broadstairs, will lead a warm-up for the competitors.

Cllr Sandy Ezekiel, will get the run under way at 2.30pm while Stuart Barr, of main sponsors Miles & Barr, will present trophies to the first male and female over 16; the first male and female aged 11 to 15; the first male and female under 10; and the first team of three.

Last year’s winner was 40-year-old David Chapman-Jones from Dover in 15 minutes 54 seconds. The first lady was 26-year-old Heidi Meehan from Canterbury in 18 minutes 36 seconds

Saga and Blaze Neon are also supporting the fun run and all profits will go to the Pilgrims Hospice at Margate.

Miles & Barr will operate a skeleton staff on the day, with the majority of their employees taking part. They have the added incentive of a trip to New York for the person raising the most cash for the hospice.

KM-fm’s Big Bus will be at the event to entertain the runners and their supporters while Kool Kat and the Cruise Crew will also be there distributing goodies.
