Joy turns to anguish for Hess

ANDY HESSENTHALER: particularly disappointed with Gillingham's defence against Burnley

GILLINGHAM player-manager Andy Hessenthaler was deeply disappointed with the manner of Monday's first defeat of the season against Burnley.

Delight with Saturday's first league win at Bradford was tempered with the 3-0 reverse against bottom club Burnley who had lost their previous three league games.

"One minute you're up, the next you're down, that's the nature of the game," said the Gills boss. "When we suffer our next defeat let's hope we play better than that because it wasn't good against Burnley.

"The most disappointing aspect of our performance was the defending, especially after the way we played at Bradford where we looked so solid. We went three league games without conceding a goal and then we concede three.

"What's important is that we put this behind us, work hard in training and get ourself right to bounce back against Watford on Saturday."

* From Tuesday, August 26, Gillingham season ticket holders, who have retained a stub from Saturday's home game against Burnley, can purchase one ticket for the home game against West Ham on September 20. These are subject to availability.

Two-year season ticket holders have been given the opportunity to purchase a further two tickets.

Tickets for the home game against Millwall on Saturday, September 6, are restricted to two per person and can only be purchased by supporters who are already on the club's database, having bought tickets in the past.
