Canterbury Ladies draw and Holcombe Ladies win in Investec National Premier Division while Canterbury's men are off the mark

Canterbury Ladies grabbed a late draw at table-topping Clifton to maintain their unbeaten run to start the Investec National Premier Division campaign.

Jo Leigh opened the scoring for the Bristol side from a penalty corner on 12 minutes before Sarah Kerly replied for the visitors just before the half hour.

Dirkie Chamberlain then put Canterbury into the lead five minutes after the break with her first goal for the club, but Aileen Davis levelled from a penalty corner on 48 minutes and Zoe Leach restored the advantage for Clifton five minutes later.

However, with five minutes remaining Grace Balsdon pounced to snatch a point for her side from a penalty corner.

New arrivals Sam Quek and Nicola White proved to be the matchwinners as Holcombe Ladies battled back from behind to beat Beeston 2-1 in the Premier Division on Saturday.

The Medway side fell behind to an Erica Sanders goal for the Nottingham club on 21 minutes, but they fought back after the break with Quek rattling home from a penalty corner in the 50th minute to level the scores.

Then with eight minutes left Quek’s GB and England teammate White struck from a set piece to win it and make it eight points from four games this season.

Holcs lie fourth, behind Canterbury on goal-difference with both teams two points adrift of new leaders Surbiton and second-placed Clifton.

Canterbury’s men came from behind to record their first points of their NOW Pensions National Premier Division at Brooklands Manchester University.

The hosts led 2-0 through Andrew Graham’s fifth-minute goal and Peter Flanagan’s penalty corner goal on 17 minutes, however the city club roared back with Kwan Browne and Harry Roberts scoring twice in five minutes to level it before the half-hour.

Ben Hare turned the game on its head three minutes into the second half and Roberts made it 4-2 on 63 minutes, and though Aiden Khares pulled one back three minutes later, Canterbury saw out the final five minutes to record a memorable win.
