THE Medway-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team began their ENIHL play-off campaign with a 4-1 win over Oxford City Stars at the Gillingham Ice Bowl on Sunday.

Andy Smith and Kev Lake both struck to give the Mos a 2-0 lead in the first period. Jordy Black's strike early in the second took the game away from the visitors, and Peter Carey made the game safe for the Dynamos by hitting his side's fourth on 34 minutes.

Oxford scored a deserved consolation midway through the period, while Dynamos' netminder Joe Dollin received his third man-of-the-match award in the last five games.

The previous day a depleted Dynamos side rounded off their league season with a 7-3 victory at Swindon Wildcats.

With the title already sown up, coach Kevin Parrish rested several of his first choice players ahead of the play-offs. The coach gave himself a rare outing, while there was ice time for two members of the under-14s squad, Aaron Connolly and Zach Sullivan.

Connolly and Parrish both scored, while Anthony Leone netted a hat-trick. There were also goals for Carey and Anthony Lennon.
