Weekend women's hockey round-up

CANTERBURY will look back on this result as two points dropped after allowing Chelmsford to come back to snatch a point at Polo Farm on Saturday.

With both sides able to play their internationals possibly for the last time this season it was a lively encounter with Jen Wilson getting Canterbury's opener on 27 minutes with a cool finish after good work from Hayley Brown and Jen Milne.

After Chelmsford equalised Jo Bryant turned in Susie Townsend’s cross to put Canterbury back in front at half-time.

The city club extended their lead on 54 minutes after being awarded a penalty stroke when Mel Clewlow’s strike at a penalty corner was illegally stopped on the line. Natasha Brennan converted.

Chelmsford scored from a penalty corner then levelled two minutes from time to snatch a point.

Meanwhile, Sevenoaks Ladies were in EH Cup action at Epsom and they won the tie on penalties.

The third round match had ended goalless and was decided on penalty strokes - which Sevenoaks won 4-1.
