The annual creative competition asks pupils to design a genuine or fantasy meal by incorporating their art and literacy skills.

Producing a drawing or painting of the lunchbox supplied with a written piece explaining why their meal is so special, all winning entries will be displayed at the prestigious Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate – home to works of world-renowned artists such as Tracey Emin.

Every entry submitted to the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards will be converted into an online recipe card visible by all. Judges of the awards will select the winners and invite them to a formal event staged at the gallery.

Children can submit their entries in a variety of categories including: Celebrity, Fairytale, Knight, Pirate Captain, Historic, Superhero, Princess, Famous Artist, Healthy, Cheesy, and the aforementioned Book Character.

All drawings and paintings must be presented as landscape and a list of ingredients should also be supplied. The supporting written piece should really ‘sell’ the meal, pointing out what makes their creation exciting and unique.

All submissions need to be submitted to www.perfectpackedlunch.org.uk by the noon, Friday May 13 deadline.

Lisa Craig, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the awards, said: “We all have a book character we love the most, but have you ever wondered what they might like to eat? Well the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards offer the perfect opportunity to explore your curiosity. Ask an adult to help you with your submission and get creative – you might even see your meal on display in a world-famous art gallery!”

The awards are supported by key partners Mini Babybel, Golding Vision (Part of Golding Homes), Three R’s Teacher Recruitment and Turner Contemporary Gallery.
