Maidstone Leisure Centre is hosting the evening on Friday, June 19 and there is still time to enter a team.

Quiz fans across the district are being urged to join the attempt to beat last year’s charity fundraising total of £2,000 made from team bookings, raffle tickets and the Spitfire charity bar.

Barclays bank has vowed to match funds raised pound for pound ensuring a huge cash payout for charities including this paper’s charity of the year Maidstone Mind, Heart of Kent Hospice and road safety services for children.

Moira Mitchell of Heart of Kent Hospice said: “We’re delighted to be one of the charities that will benefit from the proceeds. It promises to be a really great night and we’re hoping lots of teams will enter so there’s a real buzz at the event and lots of money is raised for worthy causes.

“I’d really encourage people to enter a team. Not only can you test your wits but there are some fantastic prizes to be won too.”

As well as top raffle prizes - including a selection of the latest toys and collectables from Hornby - quiz-goers will have the chance to win a £100 on the spot cash prize.

Event organiser Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “The evening will appeal to the serious quiz-goer as well as groups who are just there for a fun night out.”

The KM Big Quiz is also supported by MHA MacIntyre Hudson, Qube Recruitment, Day Smith and Hunter, and Shepherd Neame.

A table for up to eight costs £65 but there’s a £10 discount plus bottle of wine for the table with the booking code KMBQEB15. Participants will also receive a drink on arrival, ploughman’s meal, and entry into a PO Ferries voucher prize draw.
