TIME is running out to book at table at this year's Maidstone KM Big Quiz.

The mammoth wine and wisdom evening will be staged at 7pm on Friday, June 15 at Maidstone Leisure Centre. Teams of eight will compete for a trophy and range of prizes donated by Kent companies and leisure attractions.

A table costs £50, which works out at £6.25 per person, with the price including a glass of wine and ploughman's meal To book simply pay securely online in the Big Quiz section of the website www.kentwalkingbus.org

Enthusiastic managers and staff at accountants Horwath, Clark, Whitehill, based in Palace Avenue, Maidstone, have already entered two teams for the KM Big Quiz, but now the firm is making a donation of £400 to cover costs of the event and help ensure it is a success.

Funds will be used for table and chair hire, to buy trophies and to help purchase wine features as part of the prize packages.

The firm, which is a national accountancy business with offices in London and both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, provides audit and business strategy support for a wide range of ventures including family-run businesses.

Mark Anderson, a partner in Horwath, Clark, Whitehill said the business was delighted to back the KM Big Quiz because it was something its staff were enthusiastic about and was supporting excellent causes, including the Heart of Kent Hospice

This year's KM Big Quiz has received a boost with four companies agreeing to sponsor quiz rounds on the night.

Fremlin Walk shopping centre, Turkey Mill business park and functions venue, Edwards Harvey public relations and international estate agents Blue Sun World are all making a donation of £100 to have a quiz round named after their business. Organisers are still searching for three more organisations to sponsor the remaining rounds.

The causes to benefit this year will be: League of Friends at Maidstone Hospital, Mayor of Maidstone's Charity Appeal, Kent Walking Bus Project and the Heart of Kent Hospice, which is the KM's charity of the year.

Alison Keen from the Heart of Kent Hospice joined sponsors at the Orangery at Turkey Mill to receive the sponsorship cheques on behalf of organisers.

Mrs Keen said: "We are very grateful to sponsors for their support and would urge readers to book their table now as time is running out to take part in this wonderful event."

Main sponsors of the event are legal experts Vertex Law, accountants Horwath Clark Whitehill, Caterleisure, Maidstone Leisure Centre and Shepherd Neame.
