A man had to be taken to hospital in London after a crash in Maidstone

The Kent air ambulance landed in Barming last night to take an injured motorcyclist to hospital in London.

The helicopter landed off Gatland Lane at just after 6pm, following a crash on the Tonbridge Road.

A 32-year-old motorcyclist had come off his vehicle on the stretch of road between St Andrew's Road and Queen's Road.

The ambulance gave an escort to the land ambulance as it took the man, suffering from chest injuries, to King's College Hospital in London.

The helicopter had come over from its base in Redhill in Surrey, as the air ambulance based in Marden was already dealing with an incident in Sittingbourne.
