A man's body has been discovered in a car off Blue Bell Hill.

The dead man was spotted by a passer-by, who alerted police at 7.55am yesterday.

Emergency services arrived in Chatham Road - a slip road heading onto the Medway-bound carriageway of the A229.

The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed. His identity has not yet been revealed by officers.

It was the second call-out within 15 minutes for officers on that stretch of road.

They had earlier dealt with a crash which blocked one lane of the Chatham-bound carriageway for two hours. The incident caused minor traffic delays, but no one was injured.
