Officers are looking into two incidents in Maidstone town centre on Friday

Police investigating an assault which happened on Friday in Maidstone are appealing for witnesses.

The assault happened in The Broadway, Maidstone, at around 6.15pm when a man in his 20s was assaulted by a black man, believed to be in his early 20s. He was wearing glasses and a black and red baseball cap, a black jacket, blue jeans, red shoes and short black hair.

The assault was stopped when a member of the public passing intervened.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a small disturbance in Maidstone High Street, just prior to the assault in The Broadway, which officers believe may be linked.
