Burglary suspect arrested by Kent Police after cars stolen in Maidstone

A suspected burglar has been charged after two break-ins were reported to police.

Kent Police was called following a burglary at a house in Batten Walk, Maidstone on April 27, where a Mercedes ML 250 was stolen using keys from inside the house.

On Wednesday it is alleged a person driving the stolen vehicle, stopped at a Cranbrook petrol station and left without paying for some fuel.

A further break-in was reported on April 28 where a VW Golf was taken using keys removed from inside an address at Charlton Lane, West Farleigh.

Later that day it is alleged a passenger in this stolen car placed fuel in the vehicle at a petrol station in Cranbrook and left without paying.

On Wednesday, 30-year-old Leon Holder was arrested in Swanley.

He was later charged with two burglaries, two counts of making off without payment, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and possession of Class B drugs.

Holder of Fairview, Hawkhurst was remanded in custody and will appear by video link before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 3 May.
