Two men from Snodland have been arrested in connection with a fight which broke out at a boxing match in Maidstone

Police have made two arrests in connection with a fight at a boxing match in Maidstone on Saturday.

Punches and chairs were thrown by members of the audience at the event run by the Maidstone Gurkha Boxing Club at the New Line Learning Academy in Boughton Lane, Loose.

A 42-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Snodland, were arrested by officers this morning on suspicion of affray.

Police were called to the disturbance at the academy at 8.25pm.

Divisional commander Chief Supt Steve Corbishley said: "We take incidents of this nature very seriously and will seek to prosecute anyone who causes trouble at sporting attractions or any other events in Maidstone and beyond.

"Law-abiding members of the public should be able to enjoy themselves without that enjoyment being spoiled by the actions of a mindless few."
