Police confiscate bike after complaints about nuisance riders in New Road, East Malling

A motorbike seized in East Malling is to be destroyed following complaints about nuisance riders.

Kent Police confiscated a red moped after two teenagers were reported to have been driving in and around the area without helmets.

The owner had been issued with a section 59 warning under the Road Traffic Act last Friday, meaning they risked prosecution if there were stopped again.

On Monday officers were called to land near New Road, following reports that the bike was being illegally ridden again.

It was seized and a 16-year-old boy faces prosecution for having no insurance, licence or valid MOT.

It is the latest in a string of reports about nuisance riders and drivers.

Sergeant Ashley Boxall added: “Not only does the noise disturb the peace it is dangerous and unlawful.

“We are very grateful to residents for their assistance in tracking down this bike and would like to assure people that we take all reports of this nature very seriously. Rest assured we will seize vehicles which are causing a nuisance and these then face being destroyed.”
