Staplehurst dad-of-one Christopher Worthington died after A299 crash at the bottom of Linton Hill, tended by brave Tynisa Alexander

A brave first aider who tended a biker following a rush hour crash says she wants his family to know he wasn’t alone.

Dad-of-one Christopher Worthington died at the scene of the accident on the A229 Staplehurst Road at the bottom of Linton Hill.

The 37-year-old married client service manager, from Jaggard Way in Staplehurst, was riding a yellow Honda motorcycle which collided with a white Ford Transit van travelling in the opposite direction.

The crash happened just before 8am on Friday, October 17, near Butt Green Lane. Police closed the road in both directions for more than six hours.

"There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t cried thinking about him. I just want his family to know he wasn’t alone” - Tynisa Alexander

Among the first on the scene was 25-year-old Tynisa Alexander.

A qualified first aider, she was driving to Burtons Medical Equipment where she works in Marden when she came across the crash scene, minutes after it had happened.

Miss Alexander, of London Road, Allington, said: “When I got to Christopher he had a pulse but it was only very faint. I didn’t want to move him in case it made things worse so I sat there and spoke to him and that’s when I knew he had gone.

"I must have been sitting with him for five or 10 minutes before the paramedics arrived.

“The shock of it didn’t hit me until a few hours later. Since it happened I have only been able to sleep a few hours a night. There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t cried thinking about him. I just want his family to know he wasn’t alone.”

Her mum Gail said: “To me she was so brave to stop.

“She said there wasn’t anything she could do but I told her she’d done the right thing. He didn’t die alone and it must have given him some kind of comfort.

“Everyone else was driving past.

“She was distraught afterwards, which is why we went to lay some flowers. She said they had to be yellow, and I realise now that’s because that is the colour of the bike he was driving. What upset her the most was when she saw that he had a wedding ring on.”

Last week an inquest into Mr Worthington's death was opened at The Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone and adjourned until February.

A post-mortem examination found he died of multiple injuries.
