A Britain's Got Talent contestant from Kent is to face magistrates on an assault charge, it was confirmed today.

Adam Chandler, a former Aylesford School student from Eccles, will appear before magistrates later this month following an alleged attack on a former girlfriend.

Chandler appeared in the final of the ITV talent show last Saturday with swing band Jack Pack.

But just days earlier it emerged the 29-year-old had been interviewed under caution by police, prompting speculation over whether he would be able to perform on the show.

Police today confirmed a 29-year-old man had been summonsed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 24 to face a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Barman Chandler is no stranger to TV audiences, having performed to millions as part of The X Factor band Futureproof, which reached the live finals in 2007 and then completed a UK tour.
