A229 Linton Hill closed both ways after car overturns

A woman was left trapped after a car overturned and landed in a ditch.

The A229 Linton Hill was closed in both directions after the incident which was attended by fire crews and paramedics.

It happened at 4pm between B2079 Maidstone Road and Stilebridge Lane.

Kent Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Kent Police was called at 4pm to an overturned car in Staplehurst Road, Marden.

"Officers, the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service are all at the scene.

"It was reported that a woman was trapped in the vehicle and that no other vehicles were involved. The road is currently blocked."

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free the woman, who was then passed into the care of paramedics.

The northbound lane reopened shortly before 7pm, but the southbound lane remains closed.
