A man was trapped in his car after it rolled onto its side in Maidstone town centre.

The motorist was behind the wheel of a gold Daihatsu Charade when he was involved in a crash with a silver Renault Clio.

Two pumps from Kent Fire and Rescue arrived in Queen Anne Road at about 7pm last night, and used cutting equipment to free the casualty.

He was taken to hospital as a precuation by South East Coast Ambulance.

The area, near the Queen Anne pub, was closed while fire crews, Kent Highways and Kent Police worked to clear the scene.
