Two pensioners were rescued from their car after it landed on its side on the verge of a ditch.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle incident in Lidsing Road, Boxley, in Maidstone, at 1.40pm.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to stop the car from tipping onto its roof. They then had to cut the roof off the vehicle to rescue the trapped occupants.

A police spokesman said it's believed the casualties, who are thought to be in their 70s, did not suffer any serious injuries. They were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Road closures were place between The Street and Harp Farm Road.
