A DJ duo are ready to whip revellers into shape when they take to a stage in front of 5,000 people.

The Shapeshifters are on the bill for this Sunday’s Family Social gig.

The all-day show at Mote Park is the second day of a weekend festival organised by Maidstone-born DJ Nic Fanciulli, with support from the KM Group.

The pair, who are best known for their hit Lola’s Theme, will be joined by the Brand New Heavies, Earth, Wind and Fire Experience featuring Al McKay and Sister Sledge.

Nic, who lives in West Malling with his wife and son, wanted to create an event for everyone in his hometown and called in favours from his showbiz friends to help form the line-up, including the Shapeshifters.

Simon Marlin, who formed the group with Max Reich, said: “We’re really excited about performing. We’ll be playing all the old tracks and some from the new album.”

Work got under way at the festival site this week. The weekend begins with The Social – aimed at clubbers aged over 18 – on Saturday.

The area includes stalls, food stands, various indoor stages and a fun fair.
