Maidstone: Maplesden Noakes school issues warning about flasher

Police are searching for a flasher who has reportedly been exposing himself to school children in Maidstone.

Maplesden Noakes School and Maidstone Grammar School for Girls have issued a warning to parents after a number of students were flashed by a man aged in his 20s or 30s.

The incidents took place in Whatman Park and an alley which leads to Allington and runs behind the Maplesden Noakes' Buckland Road premises.

A letter sent out by Maplesden Noakes headteacher, Jane Prideaux, told parents police are aware and are trying to apprehend the man who is described as having short hair and wearing a grey tracksuit.

Students at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls were also called into an assembly this morning where staff issued a further warning.

Kent Police has confirmed officers are investigating three separate reports of a man acting inappropriately.

A spokesman said two incidents were reported in the alleyway near Buckland Road on September 7 and 16 and a third in Whatman Park on September 8.

He added: "Enquiries are ongoing and the local PCSOs who regularly patrol Maidstone and the surrounding areas have been made aware of these incidents."

The alleyway is used by students and parents heading to nearby schools, including Brunswick House Primary School in Leafy Lane.

Students have been told not to approach the man but to inform a member of staff immediately.

Kent Police has been approached for more information.
