Organisers of the Kent County Show, Kent Showground, Detling, step up security checks

You may have a bit longer to wait to get into the Kent County Show if you are going this year.

It is because security measures are being stepped up in light of recent terror attacks which have taken place in Manchester and various parts of London.

The team in charge of making sure we are safe at the event has suggested people should leave earlier are planned to allow time for random bag searches.

Vehicles entering the ground to help stalls and exhibitors set up on the day will also be randomly searched.

The event runs from July 7-9.

Show manager Lucy Hegarty said: "We are asking our visitors to limit the items they bring to the Show so that the bag searches cause the least possible impact and delays and we would like to thank the public for their support.

"We are aware that this may mean a longer wait at peak times. Visitors should to arrive earlier to avoid these peaks."

Although there are no plans for the site security staff includes Security Industry Authority licensed teams who have been appropriately trained and will be conducting thorough security checks for people accessing the showground, as well as patrols inside the event.

It comes as security was also stepped up at Armed Forces Day over the weekend.
