At the brief hearing at Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone today assistant coroner Christopher Sutton-Mattocks made no mention of any ongoing police investigation as he adjourned proceedings until February 21.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is currently investigating circumstances leading up to the death at the site in Pembury Road on October 13.

A spokesman said last month: "The IPCC were informed and investigators were deployed to the scene and post-incident procedures.

"Officers have provided accounts, a CCTV trawl has been made of the area where the man was arrested and investigators are assessing CCTV footage recovered from the police station."
