CBeebies' favourite will head to Mote Park, in Maidstone, this weekend

Families are in for a treat this weekend when CBeebies’ favourite Mr Bloom takes over Mote Park with his pals.

Youngsters have the chance to see the popular character, who will be joined by his loyal veggies, entertain crowds for three-days. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the first day of the tour, hosted by one of the channel’s presenters, Rebecca Keatley.

Reggae favourites Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew will make an appearance at the show, which runs until Monday, with their bongos, ukuleles, egg shakers and plenty of energy. The Caribbean group will hold interactive workshops for families to make their own music and enjoy creative storytelling.

There will be various educational activities, including a mini beast hunt with the Medway Valley Countryside Partnership, a petting zoo from Kent Life and a cardboard city created by Mote Park Fellowship.

Mr Bloom, who is also know as Ben Faulks, said: “I can’t wait to meet the tiddlers in Maidstone. Me and the Veggies are really excited about getting out of the nursery and driving the Compo Car over to Maidstone.

“We’ve got a fantastic show lined up which needs lots of audience interaction so make sure you bring your singing voices and your dancing shoes.”

Entry to Mr Bloom and Friends’ Big Day Out is free but the main stage show, When Julian Lost his Wiggle, which is aimed at children under six years old, is only open to those lucky enough to secure tickets from a random draw earlier this month.

Gates open from 10am and the event concludes at 5pm.
