A spokesman for Haynes Bros Ltd, which owns the vehicle and is directly opposite Texaco, said: "We can confirm that one of our managers was driving a company owned Mustang, with another colleague in it, when it was involved in a collision.

"Fortunately, there appears to be no serious injury to anyone involved and at this time we do not know precisely what caused the accident.

"However, the police will no doubt be following this up with witnesses and all those involved. The company is unable to make any further comment at this time”.

The road was closed for just over an hour and traffic diverted down Square Hill while the vehicles were recovered.
