Consultation is to begin on plans for a new care centre, consisting of 99 apartments and a 36-bed care home, in Leeds.

Developers English Villages say the new "care village" will meet growing demand for care accommodation and bring a new shop, restaurant, café, library and craft room, and more than 100 jobs to the existing village.

The village would be built on seven-and-a-half acres of Ledian Farm, which is owned by Gallagher Group, and consists of an industrial estate and farmland off Upper Street.

A public consultation event will take place in Leeds Village Hall from 2.30pm to 7pm on Friday – and English Villages say final plans will be submitted only after extensive consultation with residents and Maidstone council.
