Maidstone: Tops Pizza in Ozzy Osbourne prank by Jon Culshaw

A pizza takeaway had an unexpected celebrity guest - but all was not as it seemed.

An unsuspecting member of staff at Tops Pizza, Lower Stone Street, thought he had answered the phone to Black Sabbath front man Ozzy Osbourne whose attempts to order were interrupted by cries of ‘Sharon’ and ‘I’m confused.’

He then seemed to pass the phone to his friend, the late art critic Brian Sewell.

But both celebrities' voices were in fact the work of Dead Ringers star Jon Culshaw, who was performing at the town’s Hazlitt theatre in Earl Street.

The 49-year-old impressionist is touring the UK with his friend and producer Bill Dare for the show The Great British Fake Off.

An audience member said: “The girl who answered was pretty confused and put him on hold for ages before her manager came on the line. He realised it was a gag."

The end of the show was marked by the arrival of five large pizzas on stage, which the audience were invited to tuck into.

Niaz Jabarkhail, manager of Tops Pizza, said they often fall victim to prank calls ranging from the amusing to the rude, but Mr Culshaw’s was definitely at the funnier end of the spectrum.
