Maidstone rugby player Matt Iles (right) will face a disciplinary hearing following an RFU investigation into an alleged case of eye gouging.

In January this year, Gravesend player Clarence Harding was left blind in one eye following a Kent Cup match with the County Town side at the Mote in Maidstone.

No charges followed a police investigation and the matter was handed to the Rugby Football Union.

A disciplinary hearing had been scheduled for Thursday October 28 at London Bloomsbury Holiday Inn, but has now been adjourned at the request of the chairman of the panel, RFU Disciplinary Officer Judge Jeff Blackett.

An RFU statement said elements of medical evidence needed further clarification before the hearing can be rescheduled. A new date will be fixed as soon as possible.
