Police dogs help officers arrest two over Maidstone drugs offences

Police sniffer dogs have helped officers arrest two people on suspicion of drugs offences in Maidstone.

A man acting suspiciously in Buckland Hill on Wednesday ran away from officers when they approached him.

However, police dog Monty attended the scene with his handler and tracked the man through several gardens to an outbuilding off Buckland Road.

Police dog Piper and her handler then also arrived and searched a number of gardens in the area where she found drugs and a mobile phone.

A 33-year-old man from Sydenham, London was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.

A woman aged 35 was subsequently arrested at an address in Tonbridge Road and a further quantity of drugs plus some cash was seized.

Both the man and woman remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
