by Alan Smith

Jaswant Narwal

Jaswant Narwal has been appointed the new Chief Crown Prosecutor for the South East.

The mother of two’s region includes Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Born in Yorkshire, but now living in North London, Mrs Narwal, pictured right, has been a barrister in the CPS for nearly 25 years.

She had previously served as Chief Crown Prosecutor for Sussex in 2010, before becoming Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the South East Area, following a re-organisation in 2011.

She said: “I am committed to ensuring that we deliver a continuously improving service to victims and witnesses and that the work on all our cases is of the highest possible quality.”

The CPS South East prosecutes more than 70,000 cases each year.
