Arsonists caught on CCTV throwing burning object into car in Crismill Lane, Bearsted, Maidstone

Security cameras captured the moment a car burst into flames after arsonists threw a burning object into the window.

CCTV footage has been released by police today, which shows two people set alight to a black Ford Ka in Bearsted, Maidstone, on Thursday, November 6.

In the clips, the pair approach the vehicle in Crismill Lane and one of them throws an item through the rear windscreen.

The other suspect appears to light another object before throwing it into the vehicle, causing it to burst into flames on the driveway.

The blaze was spotted at around 1.45am by officers patrolling the area.

The flames also damaged a Range Rover parked nearby.

Investigating officer PC Fay Coleman said: "This was an incredibly dangerous thing to do and I would appeal to anyone with any information about who is responsible to get in touch.

"The CCTV footage shows a person standing very close to the vehicle when it bursts into flames, so it is possible he or she may have suffered burns.

"Perhaps someone you know came home that night with injuries they couldn’t account for. If you have any information at all, please do let us know."
