Maidstone: Theft suspects arrested after fleeing scene

Officers responding to a reported theft from a vehicle in Maidstone stopped and arrested three suspects soon after the offence was committed.

Kent Police received a report at 10.02pm yesterday that two men had been seen acting suspiciously near a vehicle parked off Northumberland Road, Shepway, before running off and driving away in a car.

Patrols immediately attended and after searching the area found the suspects’ car stationary in Sutton Road.

At 10.50pm, the officers arrested a 29-year-old man from Langley and an 18-year-old man from Maidstone on suspicion of theft. The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Maidstone was arrested on suspicion of theft and driving without insurance.

All three remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
