Maidstone: Three released in hunt for car thieves

Three people arrested by officers in Maidstone on suspicion of theft of a vehicle have been released.

Kent Police received a report at 10.02pm on Thursday that two men had been seen acting suspiciously near a vehicle parked off Northumberland Road, Shepway, before running off and driving away in a car.

Patrols immediately attended and after searching the area found the suspects’ car stationary in Sutton Road.

At 10.50pm, the officers arrested a 29-year-old man from Langley and an 18-year-old man from Maidstone on suspicion of theft.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Maidstone was arrested on suspicion of theft and driving without insurance.

The two men were then released on bail until March 12 while the woman was released without charge.
