A yellow weather warning for heavy rain that was in place across the south has been updated and no longer includes Kent.

It came into force at 6am today and was expected to last until the same time tomorrow.

The warning issued by the Met Office extended across the whole of the south of England and parts of Wales and the Midlands.

It warned the heavy rainfall may lead to flooding in places and cause travel disruption.

There was also said to be a small chance homes could have been flooded, causing damage to buildings and potentially hazardous conditions.

However, this morning the warning was updated and to no longer include Kent.

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal.

River levels remain high and are rising again at Crowhurst Bridge following heavy showers last night.

It is warning people to avoid using low-lying footpaths near watercourses in the area.

An update is expected at 9pm today.
