Tonbridge Angels manager Steve McKimm won’t worry if he can’t bolster his squad before the transfer deadline.

Steve McKimm won’t worry if he can’t add to his Tonbridge squad before the transfer deadline.

Angels have until next Thursday to strengthen their squad for the Ryman League, Premier Division run-in.

McKimm has made enquiries but has faith in the players he has as third-placed Tonbridge look to secure a play-off position.

He said: “I’ve spoken to a few clubs about players but they’re all in with a chance of the play-offs and want to keep their squads together, which is fully understandable as I’m in the same boat.

“The players I’ve got have got me and the club where we are. If we can add to them, great, but if not I trust the ones we’ve got anyway.

“They’ve done ever so well this season and against the odds, in my opinion.”

Angels host mid-table Canvey Island on Saturday and visit promotion rivals Dulwich Hamlet on Easter Monday (both 3pm).

It’s unusual to have no injury worries at this stage of the season but Angels are at full strength, with McKimm paying tribute to physios Melvin Slight and Tina Jenner.

He said: “They’re unbelievable. They come in on their nights off to look after the players.

“They go that extra mile and the players appreciate it. It helps massively.

“All physios take pride in their work but I work with Melvin and Tina and they’re remarkable.”
