Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders expecting an answer either way as players mull over offers to stay at the club

Hesitant Maidstone players are running out of time to decide if they want to stay with the National League new-boys.

The futures of play-off final scorers Bobby-Joe Taylor and Dumebi Dumaka, along with Manny Parry and Charles Banya, remain in the air.

Stones boss Jay Saunders wants answers by Friday.

He said: “They’ve got until Friday to decide and if nothing’s agreed, we move on to other people.

“Money’s the main thing, to be honest. We’ll probably find a couple more will leave this week.

“I’ve spoken to all of them about different things and we’re a little way apart on where we need to be. We’ll see but I don’t expect them all to stay."

Callum Driver and James Rogers, meanwhile, have agreed new contracts while Joe Healy is set to join Stones at pre-season training before going travelling.

Saunders said: “Joe had a couple of offers but didn’t want to sign for anyone else. He felt he shouldn’t come to pre-season if it was going to unsettle things, but I’ve told him not to worry about that.”
