Former Maidstone favourite Ade Olorunda has been forced into retirement after revealing he’s facing a hip replacement – aged just 32.

Olorunda was due to return to the Gallagher Stadium for a charity game on June 21 but was stunned to learn his career was over.

The striker will be remembered by Stones fans for firing the club to Ryman League Division 1 South play-off glory in 2013, including a double in the final against Faversham.

Olorunda, who finished last season at Hastings, said: “I’m devastated. I’ve been told if I carry on and do nothing, I won’t be able to walk. I never thought this would be my last season of football.

“It looks like I’ll need a hip replacement. I’m due to go to Reading on June 8 to see a specialist who will double check, then I’ll go under the knife.

“I’d had a little niggle in my hip for a while but I played through it.

“I’ve got a little boy now and was waking up on Sundays not being able to walk, so I thought I better get it checked out.”
