Guest striker Mark Lovell scored the winning penalty as Maidstone United won 4-2 on spot-kicks at Bromley on Tuesday night.

Lovell, playing as a favour to boss Jay Saunders, looked to have settled the Kent Senior Cup first round tie in normal time after heading home Bradley Jordan's 22nd-minute cross.

But Vanarama Conference South Bromley equalised through Louis Dennis on 88 minutes to take the match to penalties.

Alex Akrofi missed United's first spot-kick but Will Godmon saved from Danny Waldren, then saw Dennis fire over after Nicky Southall edged Maidstone in front.

Tom Mackelden, Jordan and Lovell clinched Stones' place in the second round.
