Maidstone United start summer rebuild by signing Lewis Knight from St Albans City

Maidstone have made their first summer signing with the capture of defender Lewis Knight.

The 6ft 4in centre-half arrives on a one-year deal after leaving St Albans.

He’s also played for East Thurrock, Concord and Welling and impressed when head of football John Still went to watch him towards the end of the season.

Knight, 26, told the Stones website: “I’m delighted to get the move over the line and get it done nice and early ahead of next season.

"I had a call from John Still who said he had come to watch me play and felt I would be a good fit for the club.

"I came and met him and Hakan (Hayrettin, head coach) and I liked what they had to say so I jumped at the opportunity to join the club.

"I am an old-school centre-half but I like to try and play as well.

"It’s a dream come true to play full time football, and I feel I can only get better and improve myself as a player.

"I’ll keep myself ticking over during the summer and am looking forward to coming back in July and showing everyone what I can offer."
