Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders is monitoring the transfer market following injury worries over Jay May and Alex Flisher

Jay Saunders is keeping an eye on the transfer market following injury concerns over Jay May and Alex Flisher.

May has a calf injury while Flisher injured his knee in Maidstone’s 1-1 friendly draw against Concord last Saturday, leaving Dumebi Dumaka as the only recognised striker.

Stones boss Saunders is confident the pair will be fit for the National League opener at home to York on August 6 but wants to be prepared.

Saunders said: “It’s an area we’re keeping an eye on in case someone becomes available and the same goes with the wide areas.

“Jay May’s had this calf problem for the last couple of weeks and Flish took a whack on the knee on Saturday.

“Our options are limited at the moment but hopefully both will be OK.”
