Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders believes summer transfer dealings may be over

Maidstone’s summer transfer business could be finished.

Ben Greenhalgh, Kevin Lokko, Tom Murphy, Anthony Acheampong and now Jack Evans have arrived at the Gallagher since promotion to the National League.

Boss Jay Saunders is still looking at trialists – former Crystal Palace youngster Bayan Fenwick, who scored twice in the 6-1 friendly win at Folkestone on Tuesday night and defender Callum Emptage, who’s been released by Gillingham.

Once he’s made a decision on those two, set to come after the friendly at Welling on Saturday, there’s unlikely to be any more activity.

Saunders said: “If someone became available we’d look at it but at the moment we’ve got good options.

“I don’t want a ridiculously big squad and with the transfer window being scrapped, we don’t have to rush into anything.

“A lot of players are still trialing at Football League clubs or other Conference clubs and more will become available.

“I’m being offered trialists left, right and centre but I’m not bringing people in who are no better than we’ve already got.”
