Maidstone United missed the chance to return to the top of the Ryman League Premier Division after a shock 4-1 defeat at Thamesmead on Tuesday night.

A draw would have moved Stones back above leaders Kingstonian but they dropped to third after Dulwich Hamlet's 4-2 comeback win at Margate.

Tommy Whitnell put struggling Mead in front on 13 minutes and Sean Roberts made it two after 38 minutes.

Defender Jerrome Sobers gave Jay Saunders' side hope on 59 minutes but Junior Baker restored the two-goal cushion four minutes later and Whitnell scored his second on 67 minutes.
