Maidstone United go into the big match against Margate on Tuesday night sitting on top of the Ryman Premier Division as they kept their excellent winning streak going with a comfortable victory away at Lewes.

Maidstone will remain top of Ryman League Premier Division even if they lose at title favourites Margate on Tuesday night.

That's after Jay Saunders' Stones claimed two second-half goals at Lewes on Saturday to make it 11 wins from 12 games this season.

Stones went close early on as Frannie Collin was denied by keeper Rikki Banks before Jack Parkinson shot just wide of the upright.

After the break, Jay May's header went straight at Banks, who then denied Bodkin but his resistance was finally broken on the hour. A long throw-in by Alex Flisher finally found its way to Bodkin, whose deflected shot went back to Flisher to score beyond Banks.

Lewes nearly levelled but Nicky Wheeler hit the bar before Banks denied May a second goal.
Stones finally gave themselves some breathing space with five minutes left when May set up Michael Phillips to score the second goal.

Maidstone: Worgan, Simpson, Mills, Coyle, Miles, Rogers, Bodkin (Brown 67mins), Parkinson, May (Miller 88mins), Collin (Phillips 82mins), Flisher. Subs not used: Greenhalgh, Godmon.
