Cameras in town as Maidstone United face Dover Athletic live on BT Sport

Maidstone get to show what they’re made of in front of the TV cameras when Dover visit the Gallagher in a New Year’s Day sell-out.

It’s the second meeting in a week, following a 1-1 draw at Crabble on Boxing Day, and will be shown live on BT Sport at 6pm.

United are no strangers to the cameras, with FA Cup ties against Stevenage and Wrexham, plus their National League opener against York, all picked for coverage in the past three seasons.

Stones are 19th in the table and manager Jay Saunders wants his players to show they are better than that against a Whites side going for promotion.

Saunders said: “We’re looking forward to it. It’s always nice to have the cameras down and hopefully we can get a full house and a good atmosphere.

“The supporters were great again at Dover.

“They got behind the lads from first to last minute and we’ve got to recreate that at home.

“Don’t get me wrong, we’ve got to put on a performance to get that atmosphere but hopefully they can all get together and make that noise in front of the cameras and show everyone what a good club we are.

“I personally don’t think we’re a bottom-six side. I think we should be higher and we’re capable of it on our day.”

Maidstone played well at Crabble but face a different challenge at the Gallagher.

Saunders said: “I think our pitch is a lot tighter. Dover’s pitch is a lot bigger and I think that probably suited us.

“Maybe, being a tighter pitch, it may suit Dover a little bit more, I’m not sure, but we know what they’re about.

“You’ve got to try and keep their front three quiet and if you can do that, you’ve got half a chance.”

Tickets have now sold out, with no pay-on-the-day option.
