Travellers move on to land at West Malling Village Hall, Norman Road

Travellers have moved on to land behind a village hall.

Ten caravans drove on to a field next to West Malling Village Hall, on Norman Road, yesterday evening and remain there this afternoon.

All activities at the hall, including yoga, Weight Watchers and pre school, were cancelled today and no events will take place until the land is clear.

The land is owned by West Malling Parish Council which has the responsibility of dealing with the incursion.

Richard Selkirk, vice chairman of the parish council, said Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council has been contacted and legal proceedings to evict the group are underway.

Kent Police are aware and residents are urged to report any suspicious activities to them.
