Tonbridge: Robbery at Sainsbury's Local, Shipbourne Road

A balaclava-clad robber made off with cash and cigarettes after raiding a Tonbridge supermarket.

Police were called to the store after the man entered Sainsbury's Local, in Shipbourne Road.

He instructed staff to fill a Marks & Spencer carrier bag before shoving one employee who fell backwards and stumbled to the floor.

Officers were called at 7.30am on Sunday and are now in the process of carrying out forensic checks and reviewing CCTV.

The suspect was described as wearing a black hooded jacket, with skinny black jeans, black Nike trainers and black thick gloves.

He is believed to have walked from the direction of an alleyway, which runs between Bishops Oak Ride and Larch Crescent.
