The plans, from Rainham-based company Freshbloom Ltd, include building flats of one and two bedrooms across three blocks, the highest of which would be six storeys.

The proposals also include 47 parking spaces and cycle storage.

A report presented to Medway Council's planning department says the site - close to the junction with Pepys Way - currently includes a chalet, which has fallen into a poor condition, and some outbuildings.

Planning permission had previously been approved to build eight homes on the land.

The authority has received 26 letters of objection in which residents have raised concern about overlooking and loss of privacy for nearby residents.

They also raised issues surrounding traffic generation, over development of the area, loss of sunlight, and the homes being out of keeping with existing properties.

The council is due to consider the plans by Wednesday, June 28.
