It later crashed into the crossing in Princes Avenue, before officers continued the chase on foot.

A man was later arrested, in Emily Road, for dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and driving without insurance.

The 28-year-old suspect was then bailed to return to the police station on April 10.

Pictures from the scene show shattered glass surrounding the black car, which also smashed into roadside metal barriers.
