A cat has died in a house blaze.
Two fire engines were called to a property in Rycaut Close, Parkwood, just after 11pm yesterday night).
Firefighters used a pet oxygen mask to try as they battled to save the cat.
There were no other reported injuries.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to tackle the fire in the kitchen and the living room.
The blaze started in a tumble dryer.
Kate O' Hara, who lives next door, had to gather her kids and flee to a neighbours house.
She said: "They knocked on the door and they said, 'Get the kids, there's a fire.'
"Thank God for working fire alarms, otherwise, it could have been much worse."
