A missing schoolboy who sparked a major search after disappearing this morning has been been found safe and well.

Police and Kent Search and Rescue teams had been scouring Medway and the Dartford area for any sign of Tommy Lee May.

Year five pupil Tommy left Delce Academy in Rochester and was last seen in Maidstone Road at about 11.10am.

Residents in Medway had been asked to check garages and sheds.

But his school tweeted at 10.10pm to say Tommy had been found safe and well. It is thought he had made his way to Gravesend.

The school thanked 'the wonderful parent and school community' for their help in the search.
